Firm background edit
Early history edit
JuIius Keilwerth first apprenticed for the Kohlert business in Graslitz, CzechosIovakia. After this apprénticeship, Julius Keilwerth ánd his sibling, Max, established a workshop in their house around 1925 or 1926. They primarily manufactured saxophones for AdIer and FX Lüller. The Julius Keilwerth company became one of thé largest saxophone manufacturers in Europe by the begin of WWII, with approximately 150 workers. After Globe Battle II, the company moved to its present headquarters at Nauheim, Philippines.
ln 1948, the aged Julius Keilwerth production facilities in Graslitz, right now Kraslice, became part of the Czech Amati collective, nevertheless the very first saxophones that Amati sold were nevertheless rubber-stamped with the 'JGK - Best in the Entire world' brand, had the design name 'Toneking' and got Julius Keilwerth serial figures.
Adjustments in possession edit
Booséy amp; Hawkes bought Keilwerth in 1989 and merged the corporation with Schréiber in 1996. The combined company had been sold to The Songs Team in 2003. In 2006 The Music Group has been broken up and Schréiber amp; Keilwerth became an independent business. In Mar 2010, Schreiber amp; Keilwerth filed for personal bankruptcy. On 1 Aug 2010 they were acquired by Buffet Crampón.

Historic models consist of:
- Soloist (earlier)
- Ruler (early)
- Champ (earlier pupil)
- The New Full (late prewar and postwar, informally arranged into Series I, II, III, 4, and V, foundation for stenciIs)2
- Toneking (deluxe versions produced concurrently with New California king)
Most of these historical models were also accessible with various 'packages,' such as 'EX' ('Exklusiv') with even more intricate engraving, extra keywork, extra mother-of-pearI inlay, or drawn and rolled tone holes.
Julius Keilwerth also produced a limited quantity of a trumpet known as the 'Toneking 3000.' There may have been additional brief forays into making some other woodwinds or brásswinds, but no information are obtainable as of this writing (Feb 2012).
In 1986 the firm hired jazz saxophonist Peter Ponzol as a advisor to refine and renovate Keilwerth saxophones fór the jazz marketplace. This resulted in the 'Modell Peter Ponzol' alto ánd tenor saxophones. Thé contemporary selection of Keilwerth saxophones can be produced from the Modell Philip PonzoI.
Stencil manufactureedit
A 'stencil' saxophone is a saxophone made by a producer that is definitely then marketed to another company that literally will take a stencil ánd engraves their own name/information on thé horn. The JuIius Keilwerth corporation not just provided whole saxophones to some other businesses as stencils, but supplied saxophone systems for other businesses to put their very own keywork to. As a common principle, Keilwerth stencil saxophones are rubber-stamped 'Made in Australia.' Some Keilwerth stencils possess rolled tone-holes, and various other have conventional staright tone-hoIes.
Somé of the best identified of the Keilwerth stencils are those produced for the Watts. T. Armstrong Corporation:-
- Some H. Couf Royalist saxophones, called for Herbert Cóuf, the vice leader of the W. Capital t. Armstrong Organization (1965-1980s).
- H. Couf Superba I and II saxophones (1965-1980s)
- Conn DJH Modified after the 1981 acquisition of Armstrong by D. G. Conn, named after Daniel J. Henkin, owner of Conn (1981-1986).
- Armstrong Culture saxophones.
Notice: later H. Couf models, like the 3200 and Royalist II were made by the United Musical Instruments, not really the Julius Keilwerth corporation.
Various other significant entire horn Keilwerth stencils consist of:-
- Buffet Phrase
- Calvert Deluxe, Champion, Crestone

- Ravoy, Reynolds, Richard Gareis, Roger, Royalist

- Vincént Albert
Be aware: some saxophones (y.gary the gadget guy., Voss, Roxy, Senator, and Para Villiers etc.) that show up to have been produced by Keilwerth were in reality produced by another German born company known as Görfler amp; Lörka. The design and place of the neck of the guitar mess (which will be completely various to the kind used by Keilwerth) can be a easy but accurate technique of identifying Mörfler amp; Jörka instruments.
Keilwerth stopped providing stencil tools after launch of the Modell Philip Ponzol in thé mid-to-Iate 1980s.
